Nigeria to Suffer Shortage of 137,859 Nurses by 2030 by peter: Tue Jul 2021 01:08pm
Stakeholders in the Health sector in Nigeria have raised alarms over the looming shortage of Nurses in Nigeria. Nigeria is expected to have a short fall of have alerted the Federal Government to a looming shortage of nurses in the country which is expected to hit over 137,859 nurses by 2030.

This shortage would translates into 29.25 per cent need based on the current population of Nigeria.

According health experts, Nigeria currently have 16.1 nurses and midwives per 10,000 patients, which is less than the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations of the critical threshold of 23 nurses and midwives per 10,000 patients.
